A little spring transition style that’s more feels-like-winter than feels-like-spring.
It’s that time of year when Mother Nature can’t quite tell whether it’s winter or spring. This past week was a perfect illustration. 70 degrees one day then barely into the 40s on another? There’s a reason why it’s called a transition.
Every year around this time, it’s a little tricky to know what to put on in the morning. You’ve got to have your feels-like-spring style as well as your still-feels-like-winter style at the ready. We’re dealing with the latter today.
I’m the opposite of many, in that I actually love the cold weather. So when there are winter-like spring days, I’m a happy guy. It gives me a chance to breathe a little more life into some of my favorite fall/winter pieces before they get packed away for the season.

Among those favorites, a thin wool turtleneck is just about the most perfect piece for a cooler spring day. It’s warm enough to give you the option of ditching a coat in favor of a wool blazer, which looks a lot more springlike than a topcoat.
A silk scarf is a great all-around “hero” piece for any early-spring look. Remember that scarves are both functional and aesthetic and don’t necessarily need to be serving both purposes to justify wearing one.
I love how it has the ability to pull an entire outfit together and add a touch more class to a blazer/jeans combination.
Spring is a great time for suede shoes. And you know how we feel about a good pair of suede dress boots.
