A classic double-breasted winter business outfit idea
The flannel suit is one of the man of style’s staple winter garments. It is one of those pieces – and fabrics – that has stood the test of time. It’s a true classic, which means it’s always in style.
A feature of any timeless piece of clothing is maximum versatility. There are an endless number of ways you can style it. And here’s one – a classic all business look.

One of the first and biggest decisions you have to make when getting a custom suit made is whether to go with a single- or double-breasted jacket. If it’s your first custom experience, I would say to play it safe with a single-breasted jacket. It’s a conservative and more versatile pick. I chose a double-breasted jacket with this suit for a few reasons.
First, the color. Charcoal grey is slightly darker than a classic mid-grey, so I wanted to riff on the formal aspect of the color.
Second, the fabric. As flannel is a winter-weight fabric, I decided to double down with a jacket that would offer more coverage and, as a result, more warmth.
Finally, as I took stock of my closet, I wanted to diversify. I’ll be picking up a light grey flannel suit later this week that will have a single-breasted jacket.
